About Iskandar Investment Berhad

Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) is a strategic developer incorporated in November 2006 to stimulate the long-term development of Iskandar Malaysia. It is currently focused on Iskandar Puteri (previously known as Nusajaya) or Flagship Zone B. Khazanah National Berhad (KNB), Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor (KPRJ) are the shareholders of IIB.

OUR PURPOSE

To ensure that Iskandar Malaysia grows into an attractive investment destination and a vibrant liveable region, IIB continues its focus on developing catalytic or high impact projects in the education, tourism & leisure, creative and health & wellness sectors that cultivate a dynamic and sustainable ecosystem.

OUR KEY PROJECTS

IIB has an outstanding track record of delivering dynamic catalytic projects. Its principal accomplishments to date include the successful joint ventures and investment partnerships in EduCity, LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, Medini and numerous infrastructure projects under the 9th Malaysia Plan in Iskandar Malaysia that include the Lebuhraya Pesisir Pantai Johor Bahru-Nusajaya or more popularly known as the ‘Coastal Highway’.

IIB through its wholly owned subsidiary EduCity Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd (EIMSB), has developed EduCity as the new education hub in the region. Already in operation with nine (9) local and international education partners, EduCity plays a significant part in developing the education sector of Iskandar Malaysia. EduCity shall be further developed to reinforce its status; as the education cluster’s multiplier effects have proven to be multifarious to the local economy.

The latest development to benefit the rakyat is the Coastal Highway Southern Link (CHSL), the final stretch of the Coastal Highway from Johor Bahru to the Second Link. The CHSL, upon its completion in the second quarter of 2017, will reduce travel time from the Sultan Abu Bakar CIQ at the Second Link to Medini, from ten to just five minutes.

SOCIAL BETTERMENT AND INCLUSIVENESS

IIB not only plans for a sustainable head-line growth but is also mindful that growth with equity is always its top most priority. And this is where its social inclusion projects are meticulously designed to benefit the locals, whether through education, employment, business opportunities or community building. The first major social inclusion project for IIB was the relocation of Kg. Sg. Pendas which involved 72 units of houses built on 40 acres of land, while maintaining its natural green landscape and terrain.

The second phase of the Kg. Sg. Pendas relocation development which is expected to be completed by Q4 2017 will add a further 46 units of houses to the local community. For this phase, IIB will help the villagers to ply their trade and venture into businesses related to tourism activities. This project will see the construction of two restaurants, a wet market, a retail area and a new jetty. Upon completion of the project, villagers will be able to sell their daily catch and other processed marine products direct to consumers. They can also set up various eco-tourism based businesses such as fishing trips, boat excursions, guided tours and homestays.

Education also forms a key focus in our initiatives. Through our collaboration with the PINTAR Foundation, we are committed to inculcating education empowerment and improvement that results in the most beneficial returns to the society. The IIB school adoption programmer under PINTAR began in 2011 to support under-served schools to create a culture of education excellence and develop human capital of high caliber in the region.
